about

"Null layer flutes and sinewaves in search of a state of hippie bliss" - The Wire

"So sparse as to almost be non existant." - Terrascope

With Null, Hookland music stalwart Gordon Stranger set forth his intent to create ‘the No-music, the Least’. Whether he was successful is for you to decide. Re-recruiting his erstwhile Bogquake colleague Jack Curgeon, he defined strict restrictions on Null’s sound. The initial sessions resulted in 1974’s ‘Null’, self-released on Strangers own Stranger Records.
Whilst the album achieved limited local success, it would be seven long years until Stranger returned to the studio to record his magnum opus; Population: Nil.
